Do you know the difference between S+S and SaaS ?

As it is described in the article "Finished services are analogous to full-blown applications, delivered over the Internet using the SaaS model. S+S refers to the use of applications that consume attached services or one that is built with building block services."

Next week I am participating Microsoft event devoted to S+S.  I am anxious to here something new from MSFT there! ;)

What Do You Do? Or Where Do You Go?

I many cases IT specialists say the only way to have the maximum of compensation for their knowledge and experience is to change the speciality. Managerial work is a classic career path but not everyone has necessary skills for that. Particular speciality has also its drawbacks. The dynamic market of IT can bring you down and the knowledge uniqueness will be lost. There is also the third way: do what you like :) Nowadays IT give such possibilities.

Organizational Culture

Recently I was involved into the discussion regarding management of software development practices in the company. We argued :) Finally I caught myself at idea the discussion group has two points of view how employee's knowledge and experience can be compiled and managed.

In the evening I read an article (RU) devoted to different approaches of knowledge management. The first approach is process-based, the second one is practice-based ( I am for the last by the way ).

There I found a classification of organization cultures. They marked out bureaucratic, innovative, supportive and even Japanese ( middle-up-down management is gambled on  )!

IT Alternative Speciality

Hello again! For some time recently I have been thinking of the future of my IT career and so on... Sometimes it happens doesn't it? Today while surfing different blogs I found a post of what does it take to be a lawyer (ru)?

I was suspecting something similar but when a lawyer writes this... well... I found so much in common with IT-specialist requirements!

Hybrid SDLC?

Technorati Теги:

The article "RUP in the dialogue with Scrum" tells Scrum and RUP can enhance each other in various ways.

That brought me to the conclusion that a real SDLC process is a mixture of different methodologies and process frameworks that fits your organization in the utmost way.

I've also found an eScrum tool that is a Web-based, end-to-end project management tool for Scrum built on the Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server platform.

So in my case I would like to combine Scrum and MSF.

Does anybody know any good practice?
